Beta 21 beta 1 can't play ripped DVD files as *.iso anymore
#31
Oh, that's too bad. So then we just have to wait for the next update of Kodi? Normally, Kodi automatically installs everything on the Shield TV. I will continue to follow this topic and hope that a miraculous solution will be found soon. So far there are no alternative programs that can also play everything from a NAS?? Thanks for testing. I'll try it later this week when I have a little more time. Thanks again for testing.

You can sideload v21 nightly .apk (future v21.1) that contains the fix:

ARM:
https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/android/arm/Omega/

ARM64:
https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/androi...v8a/Omega/

Or install build from this thread that also contains the fix: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=377117

These has version increased to v21.0.1 to able install more easy on top of Play Store version

That fix #24964 doesn't fix anything on Android Minix NEO U22-XJ Max here - while Kodi 20 and nightlies/master alpha 22 are working well on that device for *.iso. Have done adb debugging over ssh and found this: Starting with
OnPlayMedia /storage/94A8432FA8430EE4/Video/Filme/DDR/Heisser_Sommer_-_DVD.iso

https://paste.kodi.tv/edifeconal.kodi

Hope it's usefull. It's on Omega Nightly 20240429 armabi-v7. Fresh install without any addons. Ugly C error:  Kodi : **ERROR: fseeko (): Invalid argument.
As said the device where the *.iso are stored is directly connected via USB3.

/Matthias

As addition: Same access with master/nightly, working:

Just a quick update

I installed the nightly build you mentioned and it works, the problem is resolved.

It means the bug is in a build somewhere between 11 April and the 27 April.

I will stay on the 11 April build until someone mentions it is fixed in the next stable.

Many thanks Matthew

Thanks everybody! After installing "kodi-20240430-7c7f08a5-master-armeabi-v7a.apk" on the Nvidea Shield TV, Kodi finally works as it should again and I can play the *.iso files again without it crashing out.

Many thanks for this news. Great to know.
Does anyone know the stable version number this fix will be?
I'm just trying to avoid the need to keep using nightly builds and get back on the stable. So many thanks

When I install this https://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/androi...64-v8a.apk after uninstall the older omega v21.0 it look like the omega again with version v21.0 but then works everything great so far I've tested! Hope it's for always stable now!

Kindly regards Romesly

What was the point of having a beta if the full release still went ahead despite a known issue this bad?

Would it be possible that someone could make playing at least one DVD ISO from locally attached storage part of the testing that every new Kodi version would receive before release?

Ideal would be one of the Homestar Runner DVDs because they have a lot of interactivity so that if they work, almost any DVD will work.

I installed the aforementioned custom build and it fixed this issue for me for now.
