EPG information "Not available" on iPhone

Exclamation
Dear Kore Remote Team,

I have some problem with EPG not showing on my iPhone mobile app, whereas it shows in the Kodi system itself.

I am using PVR IPTV Simple Client and official Kodi Remote apps on my iPhone.

Please check the attachments to get a clear vision of what I am saying about. On one screenshot you can see that the EPG is displayed on the Kodi system itself but the "Not available" on all channels on mobile Kodi Remote application at the same time.

Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi,

thanks for reaching out via the forum. It will be good if you can share some more information. Which Kodi version and which Remote App version do you use (a beta version or any of the official releases)?

Before reading your post I was only testing with the Enigma2 add-on and the RedBull video add-on (connected via IPTV Manager), which both work and show the EPG. I now even activated the PVR IPTV Simple add-on, and this also works as expected -- it shows the EPG info where also Kodi does. My test system uses Kodi 19.5 and I tested with both Remote App 1.12.1 and latest beta.

Hi, thank you so much for your response!

I am using the latest stable Kodi v.20.2 Nexus on 64-bit Windows (Win 11 22H2) and official IPTV Simple client v.20.11.0 installed from repository. On my iPhone XS Max (iOS 16.5.1 c) i have also the latest Official Kodi Remote v.1.12.1.

Also, I wanted to add that on iPhone in "Now Playing" menu it shows the current EPG program name and also it shows the EPG list if I go to the "Channel Guide" but it has no information about timing (duration) of programs. So it seems like it doesn't load the timing information from Kodi but only programs (TV shows) names...

Is it possible for you to roll back to 19.5, just for testing and narrowing this down? Would not be the first issue with the Kodi API on 20.x.

The thing is I never used 19.5 on Windows before. I started using from stable and final 20 recently and have this issue from the first moment I installed Kodi on Windows.

I've been using 19 RC and nightly images and even earlier versions on Allwiner Orange Pi Plus 2E before and I had EPG showing on my iPhone then with no problems.

Hm, this could then be a problem of Kodi and not the remote app. I will need to look at this deeper, but can only do this in a week from now as I am on travel.

I could now look into this a bit deeper. To be able to show the current broadcasted title the App needs to know the starttime and endtime of each title. This is used to determine which is the current running and next title. If no starttime and endtime is given, the App will display "Not available". This also matches your description that you are not seeing any starttime and endtime in the EPG inside the App. The other views which show the current running title use different API commands. I now also tested this with Kodi 20.2 on my Linux test VM, and this works. Are you sure there is no problem with the EPG supplier? And could you share a screenshot of the App's EPG and Kodi's EPG?

Hi! Thanks for your feedback again! Yes, I am absolutely sure that EPG works on Kodi but not on App. Please check the screenshots of the same channels with EPG on Kodi and on App. This issue is the same on absolutely all of channels from the list. The EPG provider is the one I am using for around 4 years without any problems ever, but as I mentioned, I've been using Kodi on Allwiner Orange Pi before and switched to the Windows version around 8 months ago only and this issue is with the Windows version from the very beginning.
While I don't have an Allwiner Orange Pi board to check it with my iPhone now, I provided it to a friend of mine who uses it with his iPad and on iPadOS the App shows EPG just as it should. So, I am suspecting this is Windows Kodi related issue. I upgraded to Kodi 20.2 from 20.1 very recently too but still it is the same.

Thanks for the screenshots, they also show clearly there is no starttime and endtime shared via API. I will try to get the latest Kodi to my Windows VM for reproduction.

Just now installed Kodi 20.2 on my Win10 notebook. This works as well (Enigma2 and also IPTV Simple). The issue is not a general problem, but somehow seems to be related to your setup or configuration. Can you share the URL to the M3U and XMLTV you use in your "IPTV Simple" add-on?

Thanks for your help! This is the XMLTV I use: http://epg.it999.ru/epg2.xml.gz. Sorry, but I can't share my M3U though.

Yes, that is correct, on the App there are no start times...

As a last check you can try to call the Kodi web IF via KodiIP:KodiPort (e.g. 192.172.166.32:8080) using your browser. I would expect the LiveTV section also to not show the current broadcast or any start/end time in the EPG for a channel. From there I cannot debug further as I cannot reproduce your problem, and it is not related to the remote app. It will be better to raise this in the PVR & LiveTV section: https://forum.kodi.tv/forumdisplay.php?fid=167

Thank you so much for time and support! Do you know what is very funny? Its that web interface has EPG on all channels (see the link), so this really seems to be the app issue on my setup...

Only thing I don't know where to look at the start and end timings there, but as you see it shows the correct current programs on channels... But that is exactly what I want to work (so I can read on my iPhone what channel to choose and not to read on the TV)
