How to correctly set backgrounds image location?
#1
Question
Hi there,

Not sure if I have the correct settings here,.. I copied a load of JPG to a subfolder within my PROFILE folder (on series X) latest Kodi build avail..

-i also enabled 'override with chosen background(s)' (I think that was the writing wording..)

but I'm just seeing black background (no art showing).

-- when left at the home screen (idle), the screen also fades to complete black after admit 10 seconds or so which I don't understand.

Any tips?

hi, sorry I haven't made it very clear. The global slideshow options use library/playlist content. You can use a folder of images, but to do that, you need to go into the home menu under Settings > Copacetic > General > Menus and then under each item you can choose a folder location for backgrounds. You'll need to uncheck the option in your screenshot under Background to 'Override home background with global slideshow'

I think you may need to add your folder to each item in your menu individually. I'll see if I can figure out a nice way to let the global slideshows work with folders of images too.

Ok, I've updated how the global slideshow works so now it will accept library paths, folders of images, or plugin sources.

I've tested and all these work. The last was a folder in the userdata folder like yours, so it should be good for your use case

library://video/movies/recentlyaddedmovies.xml/
videodb://movies/genres/18/
special://skin/extras/playlists/random_movies.xsp
special://profile/backgrounds/

This will be available in 1.0.16 of script.copacetic.helper, which I will push to my repo in the next couple of days. It will take longer for me to get around to submitting the update to the official kodi repo (probably a week or two) fyi so if you installed from there, you may want to switch to my repo instead for the time being.

Let me know if you have any further problems once you get the update, thanks!
