Problem serving two (or more) streams. - BartZorn - 2023-09-06

I have two DVB-S2 tuners, so I would expect to be able to serve two channels at the same time. Or even more, when more than one channel sits on the same satellite responder.
Kodi is running on a separate PC, with a Gb Ethernet connection.

However, when DVBviewer is recording a channel, Kodi is not able to play any other channel. Also, when I start the channel which is currently recording, I get the choice of playing the recording or switch to the channel, both of which do not work.

To test, I started Kodi while the DVBviewer PC was recording a program. I tried to start another channel in Kodi, which failed. The debug logfile is here:

Am I missing something? Did I misconfigure my setup?

TIA,

Bart

Make sure both tuners are assigned: http://de.dvbviewer.tv/wiki/Optionen_Service_-_Hardware

Yes, both tuners are assigned.

However, both tuners have Shared LNB selected. I have a dual-head LNB (receiving Astra 19.2 and Astra 23.5) with two outputs. I assume that means it contains two two-way DiSEqC switches allowing each output to access either head.
I don't know if that also means that the LNB's are considered shared or not. I don't remember if I have made the setting myself, or that it was defaulted.

I will disable this setting and test again. I will let you know the result.

Thanks!

Bart

The first test is a bit confusing.

Now some channels play while a recording is in progress. Others do not. Also, when starting the channel which is currently recording, both options offered do not work.
I know of at least one channel which sits on the same transponder as the channel being recorded, does not start playing.

I will test further and document which combinations of channels work and which do not.
Is there an easy way to see which tuner is doing what?

I did note yet reboot the DVBviewer PC. Maybe I should.

Both PC's have rebooted because of a power fail.

Now I can't find a channel which plays while another is being recorded.
I understand that DVBviewer goes out of its way to prevent problems for an ongoing recording, but isn't is going too far?

I asked before, but is there a way in DVBviewer to see what a tuner is doing?

Thanks,

Bart

In the DMS control panel. But I'm afraid all your question are DVBViewer related. So it's best to ask these through their support channels. e.g. in https://www.dvbviewer.tv/forum/

Yes, I did just that.
