@fritsch: i was now able to build and running libreelec with kodi V17 from 16 April. it seems that my described skipping is away completely. Now i have switched over LibreElec and away from your OE build. At this point i want to say thank you very much for your builds, your work, your support and your patience.

Also i want to say thank you to @fernet for your outstanding work. i know, we are not agreed in some point but V17 will be a fantastic release. A big step forward. Maybe LiveTV loose this "realtime flag" again and this reencoding audio will be gone as IEC burstpackages is implemented. But thats not the topic now. thank you very much! I hope i will find the right thread when i have any further issue regarding videoplayer. see you.

I did also try the latest x86 from Milhouse, but same issue (slow loading of challe data and crashing). Tried various builds and can now say that this crashing start happening with builds including the mentioned async process. With the old method everything is working fine.
Any idea what i could test or how i can support to find the reason for this crashing issues?
You did perfectly fine :-) Thx for that. Please open a ticket at trac.kodi.tv an add ksoo as he implemented async epg.

Thx much.

@mule1: Please follow: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/9589

This will be in one of the next Milhouse builds - so it would be cool if you could try the moment this is in and report back. If you post on github, please always include the pastebin with the backtrace. Thanks much.

With the latest LibreELEC test builds from Milhouse the slow channel loading and the crashes are being solved. Magic or has there something been fixed?

Magic :-)

I've just tried the updated how-to (with 16.04 desktop). libva-intel-vaapi-driver package is missing. Kodi v17 can not be installed because libmysqlclient18 is not available.

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - fritsch - 2016-04-21

Make sure you add the nightly ppa _and_ the fernetmenta ppa. The package name for vaapi-driver was wrong. I corrected it.

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - megema - 2016-04-21

Both ppa's are added, but kodi-bin still needs libmysqlclient18, which is not available.

However, the how-to says "Now finally we install all the wsnipex goodies, which are mesa, libva and fernetmenta's egl rewrite, which was already merged into xbmc-nightly...", so only nightly is needed. Or am I wrong?

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - fritsch - 2016-04-21

Nightly + fernetmenta ppa if you want to use fernet's code as we do not build the pvr addons extra for this version, but use the compatible nightly ppa to install them. If you only want to use nightly -> then only nightly.

Provide me apt-cache policy kodi-bin | pastebinit

Here you are.

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - fritsch - 2016-04-21

That looks perfectly fine. And now the output of:

sudo apt-get install kodi kodi-bin

please (just copy / paste the complete terminal)

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kodi-bin : Depends: libmysqlclient18 but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - fritsch - 2016-04-21

sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libmysqlclient20 kodi kodi-bin

Curious ...

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - fritsch - 2016-04-21

That's the reason: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/xenial-changes/2016-April/011432.html

They bumped the libmysqlclient20 some days ago :-(

And until wsnipex is back from holidays nightly build won't be installable ... sorry for that.

RE: Intel VAAPI howto with Krypton v17 based on Ubuntu 16.04 server - megema - 2016-04-22

Thanks! Not a big deal, I can wait. Just hoping, that there won't be any audio issue. I tried 16.04 a month ago with N3150, but sound was totally gone, when I started a movie.
