Would be interesting to know if Kodi dev's are thinking about parallax posters like the ones used in the new Apple Tv. Such as this example: http://designmodo.com/demo/apple-tv-parallax/

It seems somebody has found a way to pull the posters from Apple servers and has started their own database which already contains 1500 movie and TV posters.

RE: Movie Posters Animated GIF. - brazen1 - 2015-11-19

Tried your example above in Jarvis and it is animated.

The size is small though.

As you can see by your example, the container the pic is in is much larger (and wrong aspect) than the parallax itself.

Parallaxing covers can be made in C4D and After Effects and into gifs what do you think these

are Huh??

Nobody seems to be that keen on this type from comments and feedback I've read on the forums ?

er....BLUUURGH I feel sick I think I want to get off now ConfusedBig Grin

RE: Movie Posters Animated GIF. - Me23 - 2015-11-20

ProRipp, what are you using for the animated gifs? After Effects?

Any tips for other people to try. If more people made these, would have a lot to choose from.

I have cs6, so I could give it a go. The gifs you posted look like higher quality than regular 256 color gifs.

RE: Movie Posters Animated GIF. - ProRipp - 2015-11-20

@Me23,The test above was done in Cinema 4D using a light for the shadow effect and a moving camera to give the added 'motion sickness' bonus feature Confused Then cropped and converted to gif in PhotoShop at 256 colours.

Probably, but that isn't really what I meant.

My hope was that kodi could support the native format that apple uses for its posters, that way apple are doing the hard work for us!

Some will like one type, some will like the other. Personally, I don't like overly fussy gfx, and a whole screen full of posters animated all over the place make me feel queasy.

I fully support the effort people are putting in to them though.

I don't see why it has to be one or the other though, surely both options could be supported.

Yeah, I know they can be made easily enough, but why bother if they can be ripped straight from the apple servers?

People can still make their own of course, but wouldn't it be nice to have a huge database already available?

The limitations of GIF are not doing these posters any favours, but with careful palette selection and good optimisation you can get something passable.

To make it clear, I'm not against any of the posters here. I just like the subtlety of the Apple parallax posters, and I think the addition of a ready populated database makes it a nice option for kodi.

I haven't seen any negative comments for them though, do people really not like them?

Well..I don't like them. But I get your point.

RE: Movie Posters Animated GIF. - ProRipp - 2015-11-20

The trouble with the parallaxing type is, due to the fact that gifs in kodi need to be about 3 seconds long, the parallax has a tendancy to make you feel seasick ! LOL

So I broke out the turbulence to polish up in c4d and got this...... Not great but am a bit rusty still so.........

That's why I would prefer that it wasn't done in gifs, and also that it only animated when it was the poster in focus.
